ESU 5 Science Partnership with the Homestead National Historical Park Continues in 2023-24

Science at Homestead
The ESU 5 Science team has enjoyed building a strong partnership with the Homestead National Historical Park over the past 3 years.

The Homestead Rangers approached the science team about possibly writing a grant together to be able to provide science opportunities built around the Homestead’s prairie for the 3rd-6th grade students in the Beatrice BLAST program.  The partnership was fortunate enough to receive that grant two years in a row to provide some needed equipment.

Moving Forward

Three years later, we no longer applied for the grant, but continue to work with the BLAST program periodically on their Wednesday early dismissals.  This year we have been exploring animal tracks at the Homestead as well as seed collection.  This has been a great opportunity for the students and the adults involved!

I am so grateful that the ESU had so many specialists to work with my son, because now I know what to do to help my child with autism. The speech pathologist and occupational therapist from the ESU have allowed him to gain more than I ever expected him to. I don’t know what I would have done without them.
